Help Options

  • Take care with lump sum or redundancy payment you may have received.

    Before committing this money to any loan or major purchases, check with Services Australia. It may impact on benefits you could receive, and you never know how long this money might need to last.

  • Contact your lenders banks and credit providers and advise of your changed situation.

    For example loan payments may be suspended for a short time under HARDSHIP ASSISTANCE, which may save you much stress, and preserve your available cash.

  • Contact Services Australia to apply for any available benefits and allowances.

  • Have you had an unfair dismissal?

    This is dismissal in a harsh, unjust or unreasonable manner, and is unlawful. If you feel this has happened to you, consult Legal Aid for advice on taking action, which must be done within 21 days of dismissal. You may be entitled to compensation or to get your job back.

  • Check Your Entitlements.

    Check you’ve received all your entitlements owing from your employer, such as unpaid wages, leave, redundancy. The Fairwork Ombudsman may assist in pursuing these, depending on the situation.
